The first drug to hit the market has been the generic version of the blockbuster erectile dysfunction drug Viagra, the world's biggest marketer in the world.
A new study has shown that the impotence pill, which has been available since 1998, is being priced out of reach in the United States.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says it's not doing enough to keep the price of the drug low, because it's not getting any better.
"The market's going to grow very slowly in the coming years and we're not getting any better," said Dr. Michael J. R. Guggenballe, a professor of medicine and a professor of psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. "And I think that's what we're seeing."
The FDA said the drug had a low price tag of about $10 to $15 per pill and would be sold through its website, where people can get the drug for free.
The drug was approved in 1998 by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which is based in Indianapolis, because of the drug's popularity in the world's sex market. It's the most popular drug in the world with an annual sales of more than $2 billion.
